Early Stage Professional Development
Finding new talent is hard for organisations currently. Keeping them engaged so they will stay for the long term is even harder!
Most employers hope that only the most qualified and motivated will apply for every position. That said, employers don’t always have a structured and on-going professional development program in place to match the new employee's motivation or thirst for development. Investing in a new employees’ career development can help to foster a sense of loyalty, and it can also increase the organization’s attraction to potential employees. Bringing in new employees undoubtedly costs a lot of time, effort and money. You have to recruit, interview and train them. Recent research from HBR suggests that one in 3 employees leave their new employer within one year mainly because the new employer's plans for new employee professional development did not match the employee's expectations (or the expectations they were sold at the interview!).
